God
Shall Supply All Your Need, Part II
"And
my God shall supply all your need according to His riches
in glory by Christ Jesus." (1)
Jesus
spoke of the need for food, drink and clothing, "So why
do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field,
how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to
you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like
one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field,
which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will
He not much more clothe you. O you of little faith?
"Therefore
do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall
we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things
the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you
need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and
His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to
you." (2)
"Often
the follower of Christ is brought where he cannot serve God
and carry forward his worldly enterprises. Perhaps it appears
that obedience to some plain requirement of God will cut off
his means of support. Satan would make him believe that he
must sacrifice his conscientious convictions. But the only
thing in our world upon which we can rely is the word of God.
'But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things shall be added to you.' (3) Even in this
life it is not for our good to depart from the will of our
Father in heaven. When we learn the power of His word, we
shall not follow the suggestions of Satan in order to obtain
food or to save our lives. Our only questions will be, What
is God's command? and what His promise? Knowing these, we
shall obey the one, and trust the other." (4)
"Now
to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all
that we ask or think, according to the power that works in
us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations,
forever and ever. Amen." (5)
