The
Light of the World - The Light Of Life
"Then
Jesus said to them, 'I am the light of the world; whoever
follows Me will not walk in darkness, but shall have the light
of life.' " (1)
As our
Creator, God and Jesus Christ have provided for all our needs.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.
All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing
was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was
the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and
the darkness did not comprehend it." (2)
What
happens in the absence of light? There is total darkness like
the difference between day and night; like on the darkest
night with no moon or even stars to lighten the darkness.
In the dark, if we are not careful, we stumble and fall because
we cannot see the way. In the total blackness of night it
is easy to become lost, because there is no light or even
a star by which we may know what direction we may be going.
Light
and darkness is likened to the differences between good and
evil, and truth vs. error or lies. "Men loved darkness
rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone
practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light,
lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth
comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen."
(3) For the man or woman who wants to know the truth, God
provides "the true Light which gives light to every man
coming into the world." (4)
For all
who wish to walk in the light of truth, our Creator has shared
with us the source of the "light of life", His life
and His Word. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light
to my path
The entrance of Your words gives light; it
gives understanding to the simple." (5) "Come and
let us walk in the Light of the Lord." (6)
