Giving
Repentance And Forgiveness of Sins
"Him
(Jesus) God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and
Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins."
(1)
Following
are Bible references regarding repentance and forgiveness:
"I
indeed baptize you with water unto repentance,--- He will
baptize you with the Holy Spirit." (2)
"But
go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice.'
For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to
repentance." (3).
Referring
to John the Baptist, "The word of God came to John the
son of Zacharias in the wilderness. And he went into all the
region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance
for the remission of sins." (4)
"Then
He said to them, 'Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary
for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third
day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached
in His name to all nations.' " (5)
"Do
you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering,
not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?"
(6)
"The
Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness,
but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should
perish but that all should come to repentance." (7)
"Be
merciful, just as your Father also is merciful
Forgive,
and you will be forgiven." (8)
"And
be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God in Christ forgave you." (9)
"Son,
be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven!" (10)
