Taught
By the Lord
"All
your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall
be the peace of your children" (1). Jesus referred to
Isaiah's statement and said, "It is written in the prophets,
'And they shall all be taught by God.' Therefore everyone
who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me"
(2).
"There
was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the
Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, 'Rabbi,
we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can
do these signs that You do unless God is with him' "
(3).
Nicodemus
believed Jesus to be a teacher come from God, for he said,
"no one can do these signs that You do unless God is
with him." Jesus truly was a Teacher come from God.
The messages
that come to us from God are the only messages that will lead
us to God. The only way to understand Him, is to listen to
what He has to say. We must be willing to keep the words that
He says to us in order to fully receive the Spirit that He
sends to us. This will purify the heart, renew the mind, and
give us a new capacity for knowing and loving God. It will
also encourage us to give willing obedience to all His requirements.
This is the way that God teaches us and the results are the
fruit of the Spirit in our lives, "love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
self-control." (4).
Whenever
a soul reaches out after God, the working of the Spirit is
manifest, and God will reveal Himself to that soul. For such
seekers He waits to receive and to make them His sons and
daughters. As sons and daughters of God, the prophecy is fulfilled,
"All your children shall be taught by the Lord."
What
a privilege it is to be son or daughter of God (see John 1:12,
and 1 John 3:1), and to learn from Him.
1. Isaiah
54:13.
2. John 6:45.
3. John 3:1, 2.
4. Galatians 5:22, 23.
