The
One Who Heals
"Jesus
answered and said to them, 'Go and tell John the things which
you hear and see: The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers
are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and
the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is
he who is not offended because of Me' " (1)
"Now
when Jesus had come into Peter's house, He saw his wife's
mother lying sick with a fever. So He touched her hand, and
the fever left her. And she arose and served them.
"When
evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed.
And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who
were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by
Isaiah the prophet, saying: 'He Himself took our infirmities
and bore our sicknesses.' " (2)
"Our
Lord Jesus Christ came to this world as the unwearied servant
of man's necessity. He 'took our infirmities, and bare
our sicknesses,' that He might minister to every need
of humanity. The burden of disease and wretchedness and sin
He came to remove. It was His mission to bring to men complete
restoration; He came to give them health and peace and perfection
of character.
"Varied
were the circumstances and needs of those who besought His
aid, and none who came to Him went away unhelped. From Him
flowed a stream of healing power, and in body and mind and
soul men were made whole." (3)
"I
am the Lord who heals you." (4)
