The
Beginning of Wisdom
"The
fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge
of the Holy One is understanding. For by Me your days will
be multiplied and years of life will be added to you. If you
are wise, you are wise for yourself, and if you scoff, you
will bear it alone." (1)
"Do
not envy the oppressor and choose none of his ways; for the
perverse person is an abomination to the Lord, but His secret
counsel is with the upright. The curse of the Lord is on the
house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the just.
Surely He scorns the scornful, but gives grace to the humble.
The wise shall inherit glory, but shame shall be the legacy
of fools." (2)
"For
I want you to know
the mystery of God, both of the Father
and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom
and knowledge." (3)
"For
the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is
written, 'He catches the wise in their own craftiness.' "
