Let
Us Make Man In Our Image
"Then
God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our
likeness.' " (1)
"
'Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the
birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth
and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' So
God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created
him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them
and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the
earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea,
over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that
moves on the earth
Then God saw everything that He had
made, and indeed it was very good." (2)
"All
Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction
in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly
equipped for every good work." (3)
Jesus
and God made Adam and Eve in Their image, and Jesus "is
the image of the invisible God". (4) And Scripture, inspired
by our Creator, has been given to us so that we may know Him
and His purpose for our lives. It is God's purpose that we
become like His dear Son "in whom are hidden all the
treasures of wisdom and knowledge." (5)
God is
our only reliable source of knowledge, understanding and wisdom.
From Him, we know were we came from, why we are here and where
we are going. "This is eternal life, that they may know
You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
(6) God has not abandoned His earth bound children created
in His image. However, He has given us the freedom of choice
and it is our choice whether we want to be like Him or not.
To all who receive Him "He gave the right to become children
of God, to those who believe in His name." (7)
