THE
TEACHER COME FROM GOD
"He
came to Jesus at night and said, 'Rabbi, we know you are a
teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the
miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him' "
(John 3:2, NIV).
Nicodemus,
the renowned Jewish academician, paid Jesus a high compliment.
Nicodemus, himself a master in Israel, was profoundly impressed
by Christ's extraordinary credentials as a teacher and leader.
Though not yet certain of Christ's messiahship, Nicodemus
had no hesitation in affirming Him as "a teacher who
has come from God" (John 3:2, NIV).
No man
has ever impressed humanity so deeply with His incomparable
teaching as has Jesus. Jesus of Nazareth will always remain
the world's master teacher. Friend and foe alike have testified
to the authority and perfection of His teaching. The pedagogy
of Jesus has undergone extensive study and analysis even by
skeptics. Yet He remains the greatest, wisest, kindest, and
most effective teacher of all times.
As the
teacher come from God, Jesus excels all other qualified teachers
whether they have come from the ranks of philosophers, moralists,
or scientists. He is incomparable simply because He is the
source of all true knowledge. Whatever Jesus said or did as
a teacher was unprecedented. Only God incarnate could teach
what Jesus taught with such unsurpassed accuracy and perfection.
Not a single thing Jesus taught ever needed to be updated,
modified, revised, qualified, or amended. "Christ held
the key to all the treasures of wisdom, and he could diffuse
knowledge as no other one could. He was indeed more than a
teacher come from God; He was the only-begotten Son of the
Father."--Signs of the Times, Nov. 23, 1891.
My
Prayer Today: Lord, in the teacher come from God,
I have found salvation as well as wisdom. Teach me to know
Him better. Amen.
