CREATOR
OF ALL THINGS
"For
in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible
and invisible. . . all things were created through him and
for him" (Colossians 1:16, RSV).
This
sublime title recognizes the co-creatorship of Jesus and designates
Him as one with the Father in the work of creation. Not only
were all things brought into existence through Him,
but for Him as well (see Colossians 1:16). John specifies
Christ's role in creation: "All things were made through
him, and without him was not anything made that was made"
(John 1:3, RSV).
Creation
in all its splendor is a perpetual demonstration and an unfailing
reminder of the creative power of Jesus Christ. All creation
declares His glory (see Psalm 19). The majesty of the mountains,
the splendor of the stars, the shimmering of the streams,
the fullness of the fountains, the beauty of birds, the grandeur
of the sunset and sunrise, the fragrance of flowers--all declare
Christ's creative power. He who in the beginning created all
things, came in the fullness of time to recreate man and restore
him to his original status. He who spoke all things into existence,
died on a crude cross to guarantee the happy day when He will
make "all things new" (Revelation 21:5).
Christ's
creative and redeeming power is expressed in these inspired
words: "In the work of creation Christ was with God.
He was one with God, equal with Him... He alone, the Creator
of man, could be his Saviour."--That I May Know Him,
p. 18.
My
Prayer Today: Lord, because You are Creator and
Redeemer, I will worship You for Your great salvation. Amen.
