THE
PREEMINENT LORD
"And
seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above
all principality and power and might and dominion, and every
name that is named, not only in this age but also in that
which is to come" (Ephesians 1:20, 21, NKJV).
Here
an impressive array of titles are piled one upon the other
to emphasize the supremacy of our resurrected Lord. He who
was humiliated, abused, and crucified, is now highly honored,
exalted, and glorified.
Well
pleased with His beloved Son for His flawless execution of
the plan of salvation, the Father rolled out the red carpet
as it were in honor of His Son. The Son is awarded supreme
authority over all things in all the universe. In honoring
His Son for His redemptive accomplishment, God ordained that
at the name of Jesus universal homage shall be paid. The powerful
name of Jesus is far superior to all titles, be they kings
or potentates, princes or lords, presidents or prime ministers.
By God's decree, Jesus Christ is Lord of all!
Christ's
exaltation to preeminence at His ascension is the prelude
to a unified universe. At the appointed time, Christ will
usher in His universal reign. This will take place at His
second coming in "power and great glory" (Matthew
24:30). At this glorious event, Christ will remove all governments,
powers, and authorities and will reign supreme forever (see
Revelation 11:15). "Before the universe has been clearly
presented the great sacrifice made by the Father and the Son
in man's behalf. The hour has come when Christ occupies His
rightful position, and is glorified above principalities and
powers and every name that is named."--The Great Controversy,
p. 671.
My
Prayer Today: Lord, I magnify You for Your preeminence.
May Your reign in glory be soon. Amen.
