Under
Conviction of Sin,
Remember that I Died For You
"Under
conviction of sin, remember that I died for you. When oppressed
and persecuted and afflicted for My sake and the gospel's,
remember My love, so great that for you I gave My life. When
your duties appear stern and severe, and your burdens too
heavy to bear, remember that for your sake I endured the cross,
despising the shame. When your heart shrinks from the trying
ordeal, remember that your Redeemer lives to make intercession
for you." (1)
What
a promise. Even in sin, when we know we have sinned, God is
asking us to return to Him and to remember that's why He died
for us, to save us from our sins: "For He will save His
people from their sins." (2) "For the Son of Man
did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them."
(3) "The Son of Man has come to seek and to save the
lost" (4) "I did not come to judge the world but
to save the world." (5) "Jesus came into the world
to save sinners." (6) "God was in Christ reconciling
the world to Himself
We implore you on Christ's behalf,
be reconciled to God. For God made Christ who knew not sin
to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of
God in Him." (7) Oh "what manner of love the Father
has bestowed on us, that we should be (saved from our sins
and) called children of God!" (8)
Jesus
invites us to follow Him and to experience Him; "Come
to me,.. and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and
learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you
will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My
burden is light." (9)
