God's
Gifts for Health and More Abundant Living!
"I
have come that you may have life, and that you may
have it more abundantly." John 10:10
(Paraphrase)
Nutrition:
Proper
nutrition is the foundation for good health and restoration.
Eat only the foods that our Creator provided for us in the
beginning (Herbs, fruits, nuts, grains and vegetables, Gen.
1:29; 3:18).
Eat a wide variety of freshly prepared foods and avoid processed
foods. Most processed foods contain harmful fats, additives
and too much salt and sugar.
Soul Food: Jesus is the bread of life! John 6:35, 41,
48, 51, 58.
"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word
that proceeds from the mouth of God" Matthew 4:4.
Exercise:
Exercise improves the health of body, mind, and spirit by
multiplying vitality and health. Without exertion, muscle
tone and strength are lost. Choose an activity, such as walking,
cycling, swimming or some type of consistent exercise every
day. Aerobic activity greatly improves circulation of body
fluids, muscle tone and endurance.
Exercise your faith in God. "If you can believe, all
things are possible to him who believes" Mark 9:23
Sleep:
Sleep allows the body to renew itself. Adequate sleep is vital
for good health. With proper sleep, your energy level will
generally be higher and you won't feel sluggish.
"I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone,
O Lord, make me dwell in safety" Psalm 4:8.
"When you lie down, you will not be afraid; yes, you
will lie down and your sleep will be sweet" Proverbs
3:24.
Air:
Air is essential to life. Pure fresh air is fundamental to
good health.
Water:
Because the body is 70% water, keeping well hydrated and knowing
what and when to drink are important to health. Water is vital
for cleansing your body, for maintaining proper hormonal balance
and for the transport of fluids and nutrients throughout your
body.
It is recommended to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily.
Sunlight:
The sun is the established energy source ordained by God to
sustain the cycle of life for plants and animals. Sunlight
is supremely important for the body's metabolism and hormonal
balance. Use a good sunscreen to protect yourself from a lot
of direct sunlight and ultraviolet sun rays. The ozone layer
is very important to all living things, because it blocks
many of the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays before they
reach the Earth, however, today the ozone layer is seriously
depleted.
Moderation:
Using good things moderately and avoiding harmful substances
and practices is obviously a wise choice, yet often hard to
practice. The choices we make have consequences and we live
with those consequences. Focusing on the values that God shares
with us eliminates anything that is harmful, negative and
unhealthy. "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, kindness, goodness," etc. Focus on the
good and eliminate anything that is harmful to the body and
soul.
Trust
In Divine Power: Trusting in God, our Creator, is a gift
leading to wise choices. Trust in God is linked to mental,
physical, social, emotional and spiritual health. "Trust
in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own
understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall
direct your paths" Proverbs 3:5, 6. "Behold, I am
the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard
for Me?" Jer. 32:27
