The
Way, the Truth and the Life! Part
III
"I
am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through Me." John 14:6.
This
meditation is focused on "Life", the life that Jesus
shares with all who put their faith and trust in Him.
Let's
review some facts about life that are shared with us from
the Word of God
"In
the beginning God created the heavens and the earth
Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to
Our likeness
So God created man in His own image; in
the image of God He created him; male and female He created
them" Genesis 1:1, 26, 27.
John,
a Disciple of Jesus and writer of the book of Revelation also
shares with us Who was involved in this creation. "In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things
were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that
was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did
not comprehend it.
"There
was a man sent from God, whose name was John (the Baptist).
This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light,
that all through Him might believe. He (John the Baptist)
was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light
that was the true Light which gives light to every man coming
into the world.
"He
was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and
the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own
did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them
He gave the right to become children of God, to those who
believe in His name; who were born not of blood, or of the
will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
"And
the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His
glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full
of grace and truth" John 1:1-14
John
the Baptist's witness regarding Jesus: "John saw Jesus
coming toward him and said, 'Behold! The Lamb of God who takes
away the sin of the world! This is He of whom I said, "After
me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before
me." I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed
to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.'
"And
John bore witness saying, 'I saw the Spirit descending from
heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. I did not know
Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me,
"Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining
on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit."
And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.'"
John 1:29-34.
In a
prayer of Christ to His Father He stated, "This is eternal
life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus
Christ whom You have sent" John 17:3. Jesus reveals the
Father to us and to know the Father and Jesus and accept Them
into your life is to have eternal life.
Jesus
speaking to a multitude shared that He is the nourishment
of life, He provides the spiritual nourishment for our lives.
A group of people came to Jesus one day and asked Him, "What
sign will you perform, that we may see it and believe You?
What work will You do? Our fathers ate the manna in the desert;
as it is written, 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'
"Then
Jesus said to them, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did
not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you
the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who
comes down from heaven and gives life to the world
I
am the bread of life!' John 6:30-33, 35.
"I
am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness,
and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven,
that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread
which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread,
he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My
flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world
"This
is the bread which came down from heaven - not as your fathers
ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live
forever" John 6:51, 58.
There
are many more references to Life as it is in Jesus, such as
"I
am the resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me, though
he may die, he shall live" John 11:25.
Jesus
is "the way, the truth and the life", for He shares
with us the truth about God the Father, His love for sinners
and the provisions He has made to bring us intimately into
His very own family.
May the
love of God fill your heart and soul this week as you embrace
the truths that the Father and the Son share with us.
