You Shall Know the Truth!

Jesus said to those who believed in Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" John 8:31, 32.

If you abide in My word, you are My disciples and you will know the truth!

Where does truth come from? From God, and our Creator! "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth... and everything in it… Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness'… So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth'" Genesis 1:1, 26-28.

How do we learn what is truth? From the Word of God shared with us by His messengers. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" 2 Timothy 3:16, 17. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." A quotation from Jesus in Matthew 4:4, and from Moses in Deuteronomy 8:3.

Who specifically is our Creator? "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men…

"He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name; who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

"John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, 'This was He of whom I said, "He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me." ' And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ" John 1:1-4, 10-15.

The Truth comes to us from God the Father through Jesus Christ. "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me" John 14:23, 24.

Jesus reinforces the messages of truth that come through Him from the Father when He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" John 14:6.

Summary:
We receive the truth about God and our Creator through reading and studying the Word of God in the Scriptures. "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth!"

Who do we receive the truth from? From God through a study of the Scriptures and from His Helper, the Holy Spirit that He has promised to those who love and obey Him. John 14:15-24.

What does the truth shared with us by God and Jesus Christ do for us? Stay tuned, "The Truth Shall Make You Free!" Plus a whole lot more…
