WHATEVER
HE SAYS TO YOU, DO IT!
"His
mother said to the servants, 'Whatever He says to you, do
it!' " (John 2:5, NKJV).
When
Jesus began His ministry He went to a wedding in Cana of Galilee.
At the wedding they ran out of wine. The mother of Jesus said
to Him, "They have no wine." Jesus said, "Woman,
what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not
yet come." His mother didn't debate with Him,
she just turned to the servants and said, "Whatever He
says to you, do it!" And you know the rest of the story,
water was turned into wine. Mary didn't know what Jesus would
do, but Mary knew her son. She knew that He had a way of solving
peoples problems and she was not disappointed at the wedding
festival.
Mary's
advice, "Whatever He says to you, do it!" is good
advice for us today. Jesus shared some vital instruction with
His disciples the evening before the Passover in which He
became the Passover Lamb. Following is a summary of some of
the vital lessons that Jesus shared with His disciples that
evening (see John 13 and 14).
| 1.
|
Cleansing:
The importance to be cleansed by Jesus, our sin pardoning
Saviour. |
| 2. |
Service:
Learning to serving others as Jesus has served us. |
| 3. |
Messengers:
"He who receives a messenger of Mine receives Me."
Christ's disciples are His messengers. |
| 4. |
Love
one another: We are to love ourselves and others as Jesus
has loved us. |
| 5. |
Trusting
In God always: Believe Jesus and His promises. |
| 6. |
The
Way to the Father's House: Jesus is the way. |
| 7. |
To
know Jesus is to know the Father: Jesus is the visible
image of God. |
| 8. |
Prayer
Promises: He who believes in Jesus will do what Jesus
does and His prayers will be answered. |
| 9. |
Obedience:
Those who love Jesus will do what He asks them to do. |
| 10. |
Receive
the Holy Spirit: Those who love and obey Jesus will receive
the Spirit of God to live in them and be their Helper,
teacher and friend. |
| 11. |
The
Prince of Peace: Jesus shares His wonderful peace with
His disciples. |
| 12. |
Christ's
Obedience: Christ obedience to His Father is our example
and may become our obedience as we accept Him. |
Obeying
Christ and being His messengers makes friends for Jesus, and
making friends for Jesus is making friends for eternity. Whatever
He asks us to do, He gives us the ability to do it. When we
perform His requests faithfully, He blesses us. And those
blessings will extend to us throughout eternity.
