I
WILL GUIDE YOU
"I
will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye" (Psalm 32:8, NKJV).
"You
will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me
to glory" (Psalm 73:24). "The Lord will guide you
continually, and satisfy your soul in drought" (Isaiah
58:11). "To guide our feet into the way of peace"
(Luke 1:79). "When He, the Spirit of truth, has come,
He will guide you into all truth" (John 16:13).
Our God
does not abandon us. He is ready, willing and able to give
guidance to those who are willing to be led. He is our teacher,
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should
go." "All your children shall be taught by the Lord,
and great will be the peace of your children" (Isaiah
54:13). Regarding Jesus it was said, "We know that You
are a teacher come from God" (John 3:2).
Christ's
commission to His disciples also included His authority, guidance,
teaching and presence, Jesus said, "All
authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go
therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded
you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the
age" (Matthew 28:19, 20).
Jesus
gave much of His instruction as He walked with His disciples
through the hills and valleys of Palestine teaching and healing
along the way. With parables He linked divine truth with common
experiences of life. The prophets of old and disciples of
the New Testament described their experiences and revelations
received from God. Today, we have their writings and testimony
of their witness.
God was
present not only with them then, He is still present with
us today through the Scriptures, by His Holy Spirit and by
His leading providence. As we experience life, the Holy Spirit
brings to our remembrance the things we have learned from
Scripture to help instruct us in the way (see John 14:26).
Jesus declared, "I am the way,
the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through Me" (John 14:6). This is why it is so
important to listen, learn and follow the instruction that
God has shared with us. There is no other way to the life
that God has promised to share with those who are faithful
and loyal to Him. "I
will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye!" (Psalm
32:8).
