AS
YOU HAVE BELIEVED
"Jesus
said to the centurion, 'Go your way; and as you have believed,
so let it be done for you' " (Matthew 8:13, NKJV).
When
Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him pleading
with Him, "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed,
dreadfully tormented." Jesus said, "I
will come and heal him." The centurion answered,
"Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my
roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.
For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under
me. And I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another,
'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he
does it."
"When
Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed,
'Assuredly, I say to you, I have not
found such great faith, not even in Israel!'... Then
Jesus said to the centurion, "Go
your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for
you" (Matthew 8:5-13).
As we
place our faith in Christ and His promises, they become reality
for us. John, the disciple of Christ, placed faith in Christ
as the most important element to overcome the adversities
of life. He said, "Every child of God is victor over
the godless world. The victory that defeats the world is our
faith" (1 John 5:4, NEB). It is our faith and trust in
Jesus that gives us victory over the world. "Who is the
victor over the world but he who believes that Jesus is the
Son of God" (1 John 5:5, NEB).
"Go
your way, and as you have believed, so let it be done for
you!"
