THE
LIFE OF THE WORLD
"My
flesh, - I shall give for the life of the world" (John
6:51, NKJV).
Jesus
is "the life of the world."
We are three times His:
1. He
created us: "All things were made through Him, and without
Him nothing was made that was made" (John 1:3). (See
also Genesis 1:26, 27; and Isaiah 45:12.)
2. He
Redeemed us: "For He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew
no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness
of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). He gave His life
for us that we might have life more abundantly (John 10:10)
here and now, and have "eternal life" hereafter
(John 17:3). By His Spirit, He renews us and gives us new
life in Him (John 14:26).
3. In
the Resurrection He recreates us: "He
who believes in Me has everlasting life" (John
6:47). "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven
with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the
trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then
we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with
them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we
shall always be with the Lord" (1 Thessalonians 4:16,
17). "For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall
stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed,
this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God" (Job 19:25,
26).
Jesus,
speaking to some of His countrymen one day gave them a warning.
"You search the Scriptures, for
in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they
which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me
that you may have life" (John 5:39:40). The scriptures
tell us about God and His plan for our salvation. God's plan
for our salvation is Jesus Christ. It's up to us whether or
not we accept Him and His salvation. "In Him was life,
and the life was the light of men... He was in the world,
and the world was made through Him, and the world did not
know Him" (John 1:4, 10).
Jesus
truly is "the life of the world!"
